MEP Superintendent

Hollister Project Superintendents are responsible for delivering capital projects on-time and on-budget while providing an “exceptional” client experience.  Hollister is currently seeking superintendents who specialize in MEP to support long term new construction projects currently in the Princeton, NJ or the Philadelphia, PA area.

The MEP Area Superintendent’s primary responsibilities are to assist the Sr. Project Superintendent to ensure that the assigned project is completed within the established time parameters, that a safe working environment is created and constantly maintained at the job-site, and that the project is completed at a level of quality that exceeds Owner expectations. This includes assisting the Sr. Project Superintendent on developing and regularly updating project schedules and all associated project reporting, and effective management and leadership of all on-site tradesmen. Effective communication is required within the project team, both internal and external. Area Superintendent is expected to work closely with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure that the project is completed within the established budget. The Area Project Superintendent is also expected to be a process oriented person who possesses strong organizational skills, and a “whatever it takes” attitude.


  • Know and understand the Company’s responsibilities per the Owner Contract, Contract documents and Subcontractor responsibilities pursuant to the Subcontract and Trade scopes.
  • Area Superintendent to establish and implement a project phasing plan which incorporates the established time parameters as well as other extraneous factors such as weather, right-of-way work, or work impacting adjacent properties.
  • Area Superintendent to develop and regularly update project schedules, including full job and short-term look ahead schedules, based on project phase plan and project completion dates.
  • Assist Superintendent on the implementation of project phasing plan, project schedule, and sub-contract scopes of work with all on-site sub-contractors and vendors.
  • Assist in perform regular site safety inspections, document any safety violations, correct all safety violations, and document corrections.
  • Perform regular inspections comparing details in the Contract documents to the work-in-place to ensure that all work is in conformance with Contract documents.
  • Area Superintendent with scheduled job-site coordination and safety meetings with all trades to review current and upcoming work activities, as well as any and all safety issues.
  • Perform regular quality control inspections, document any sub-par work, direct action to correct such work, and document corrections.
  • Area Superintendent in effectively document and communicate project delays or issues with project team in accordance with the contract requirements and Company protocol.
  • Understand, manage and coordinate requirements of all authorities having jurisdiction such as Building Department, Fire Department, storm water management agencies, State Health Department, etc.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Establish a positive rapport with all Building Officials to streamline the inspection processes.
  • Assist Project team with sub-contractor change order management by closely tracking all extra work performed in the field. Extra work documentation shall include descriptions of the work performed and the reason it was performed. (ALL ADDITIONAL WORK IS TO BE APPROVED BY THE PROJECT MANAGER, PRIOR TO EXECUTION OF THE WORK)
  • Coordinate work associated with utilities, both temporary and permanent, to ensure that all infra-structure is installed in accordance with utility company requirements and contract documents.
  • Closely follow all established processes for flow of information and contract documentation between office team, design team, and Ownership.
  • Work closely and coordinate with Owner marketing and operations staff throughout construction as well as during project turnover.
  • Area Superintendent to incorporate all field construction changes to a designated set of “as-built” drawings and keep a detailed log of lessons learned for future company reference.
  • Manage risk by following proper project management protocol, addressing potential issues swiftly and effectively, and effective communication.


  • A positive attitude and desire to deliver exceptional results on-time for our clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive background and knowledge of safety procedures and federal and state regulations.
  • Five or more years of superintendent experience in ground up, renovation, and interior construction on union, non-union, and open shop projects.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities.
  • Delegates work appropriately.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience in managing, training and developing workforce.
  • Experienced at managing projects utilizing Project Management Software.

Areas of expertise required

  • Candidates should be proficient in commercial building construction related to plumbing, HVAC and electric.
  • Mixed Residential, Multi Unit, Condo, Apartments, Hospitals and/or Senior Living Construction experience preferred.
  • Extensive working knowledge in the following computer software programs:
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Procore
    • 2P6 or Microsoft Project Scheduling software
  • Ability to track, analyze and forecast job site productivity.
  • Strong familiarity with and ability to navigate, interpret, and enforce current building codes.
  • Uses known best practices, techniques and work experience to implement project plans and maintain required levels of quality.

Additional Skills:
Experience in all facets of OSHA compliance.
